Rainbow Program

The Rainbow Program is a therapeutic creative play group for children who are 3-5 years of age. The group offers extra support for areas relating to their social or emotional health which may be affected by their parents separation.

The program consists of 8 weekly sessions and we run 4 blocks of sessions per Calendar year. Children use art, drama, story-telling to explore feelings, experiences and behaviours. The Rainbow Program provides children with a safe place where they can explore their thoughts and feelings. The program teaches children about the various forms of loss and helps them to adjust to their new “family life”.

How Do I know if my child would benefit from this program?

Divorce introduces a massive change into the life of a child no matter what the age. Witnessing loss of love between parents, adjusting to going back and forth between two different households, and the daily absence of one parent while living with the other, all create a challenging new family circumstance in which to live. All children have difficulties adjusting to their emotional states to different life situations and as a result may be moody or have trouble listening, waiting or dealing with transitions. Children can also find social times challenging as they learn to play and interact with other children.
