How to Make a Holiday Wreath!

Last week we hosted a Wreath Workshop (which was just for moms, no kiddies allowed, which meant there was wine)! If you missed the workshop but would like to make your own wreath follow the instructions below.Materials 1 bough of pine 1 bough of evergreen or any other type of Christmas greenery 1 coat hanger Pliers Pine cones Ribbon Green Wire (can be purchase at the dollar store) Cranberries Directions Step 1: Using gardening shears cut off sections of your boughs that will be good size for your wreath. Using your pliers turn your coat hanger into a circle. It’s best to use a somewhat flimsy wire coat hanger, as the stiff ones are harder to manipulate. Once you have formed your circle you can begin designing your wreath. For those of us with Type A personality you can lay out your whole wreath in advance and get the exact look you desire. For those of who are a bit more whimsical you can create as you go along. Select pieces from your boughs and …

Holiday Sweet Table

Our Santa event was this past Sunday and personally, my favorite part was the sweet table (I may be slightly biased towards sugar though, we have a sort of love/hate relationship). If you’re wondering how to create your very own sweet table, please see our previous post. For this one, I adamantly stuck to the red and white theme. I also chose to reduce my work load by making easy sweets, like cupcakes and gingerbread. I found these amazing printables on Etsy and used them all throughout the event – this helped with consistency and presentation, plus a bonus is how cute they are! Sometimes you just have to turn your edibles into display items only – I hot glued the gingerbread men to the skewer sticks. I also made the lollipops using red and white felt. I cut strips and then round them around each other. I glued the lollipop to a skewer stick and then wrapped them up in cellophane.

Gingerbread Cookies

Gingerbread Cookies are a staple at Christmas time as far as I’m concerned. I’ve been using the same recipe for years and it always gets rave reviews. I usually double the recipe so I can get twice as many cookies out of it. The best part about gingerbread is that it keeps for a while and thus can be made ahead of time. This year I made a ton of cookies for our Santa event, I particularly liked the mini gingerbread men because they can be used in so many different ways. You could string them for garland on your tree or use them as cupcake toppers.

DIY Advent Calendar

Growing up in a Jewish home I was always fascinated with the commercialized side of Christmas. I slowly started to buy decorations but could never quite bring myself to buy a tree. Till I met my husband, who happens to celebrate both Christmas and Hanukkah. Well in all honesty mostly just Christmas as his mother is Catholic and his father is Jewish. So, now I had real reason to buy a tree and my son will now celebrate both holidays! Which is very exciting for his Jewish mother who loooooooves Christmas! I made him his first Advent Calendar and enjoyed every minute of it. It was relatively easy and not that time consuming. Materials: Canvas Board (16×20) Hot Glue Sharpie Brown Paper Bags (small size) Construction Paper and Patterned Paper (with gingham print) Glue Stick Twine 25 Clothespins Christmas Decorations   Directions Decorate your little bags, I used the gingham paper for the numbers and cut out green hearts. Then glue one strip of twine to your canvas board (use the glue on the back …
