Gingerbread House

For our last Creative Treats class, the students made Gingerbread Houses from scratch. We made the gingerbread and then they used patterns to cut out the shapes of their houses. We “glued” them together using royal icing and then decorated them using a variety of candies. It’s a great activity to do with your kids and a good way to boost self-esteem, as the finished product is quite impressive!

Cookie Decorating Workshop

On Sunday we hosted a Sugar Cookie & Decorating Workshop. Our registrants learned how to make sugar cookies and royal icing from scratch. Everyone got a chance to decorate their halloween sugar cookie shapes and they all made such beautiful cookies. It was such a great way to spend Sunday afternoon! We will be hosting some holiday craft/baking workshops in November so stay tuned for more information on those!

All Things Mini

Not only will we be offering making minis this year, we’ll also be offering making mini cakes too! If you sign up for our adult baking class you can learn how to make these fantastic, little mini cakes. Not only are they adorable, but they are perfect for one serving size and are great to serve at your next dinner party! One cake’s flowers were made with gumpaste and the other with modelling chocolate. Each has its own benefits however. Gumpaste tends to dry out extremely quickly and will sometimes crack. Gumpaste is often used to make flowers and decorative pieces as it can be rolled out very thin. Modelling chocolate is similar to a clay like substance and is easier to smooth out your seems with. Both are very pliable materials and are fantastic to use for decorating cakes.
